I have a really jacked up back...six diagnosis including degenerative disc disease, multiple herniated discs, and spinal stenosis. Surgery is not at option and I see a chiropractor on a weekly basis just to stay somewhat aligned. To say that I have a lot of stress/tension in my back and leg muscles is an understatement. I'm not sure how I didn't know these mats existed until recently and after reading reviews I thought I'd try it. I can't comfortably lie on my back, but I use it in my zero gravity recliner. Like so many of the other reviews, the first time using it is a REAL "What did I just try?" moment! It is NOT pleasant. But after a few minutes the initial discomfort fades away and for me a warm, almost throbbing sensation begins. It really does relax my back and leg muscles and I'm definitely sleeping better after using it. It may not work for everyone and I'd certainly consult a doctor if there are any concerns, but for me it is simply amazing! The first few times I wore a thin t-shirt (didn't feel anything), then began using it directly against my skin. And to be honest, I can't imagine lying flat on it...reclining back on it is the perfect pressure for me. But it really has a made a major difference in reducing the tension/tightness in my back. I wish I would have discovered this item a long time ago.
Gentle warnings from a 76 year old: when you first lie down, try to do so evenly. Obviously don't flop down on it and maybe get someone to help you lie back until you get the hang of it. During use, if you have a little extra skin like I do, you may have to gently adjust areas of your back - gently. When you are finished, either sit straight up (with help if needed) or roll completely off in one motion.
I was eye-rolling with some of the poor reviews. YES! The plastic on the mat and pillow is sharp. Take my word for it, Yes, it can scratch you if you are careless - and even cut you (I guess) if you are a moron. But the ones on Amazon are even sharper! So, give it a chance, be careful, lie down and give it 2 minutes or so and you should have a pleasant experience. Do so in a quiet room with some relaxing music. Try it for 5-7 minutes to start and then build up. It really does help.
I deliriously bought this in the middle of the night (literally 6 hours ago) because I hadn't slept in almost 72 hours as I had so much lower back pain radiating to my tailbone and right buttock. When this showed up at my door a week after, I ripped open that box so quickly I tore a piece of cardboard off lol.
I read the little guide and did the beginner level of 20 minutes while laying on the bed. The guide that it comes with is super helpful because it tells you how to use it based on where your pain is located. Amazing.
I put that torture device on my bed, immediately screamed out in "wtf is this???", and was instantly skeptical. I set a timer for 20 minutes and listened to a podcast to take my mind off of the 8000 tiny knives stabbing me.
WHEN I SAY MY PAIN WENT FROM A 1000/10 TO A 3/10 BY THE TIME I GOT OUT OF BED... I was truly amazed. I am not being dramatic y'all. I was screaming, crying, nauseous, and exhausted because of excruciating pain (this sounds like I am dramatic). I tried so many over the counter remedies, my prescribed pain meds, heating pads, meditation, diaphragm breathing, watching interesting internet videos and lidocaine patches. If I knew this acupressure thing helped so much I would have bought this months ago. Yes it takes some getting used to, but it's worth it.
Please do yourself a favor and buy this thing.
I cannot express enough how much I am in love with this accupressure set!!!! Yes, it hurts at first for the first few minutes.... but chances are you got this because you have pain anyways....why not grimace for another few minutes to experience the relaxing, pain relieving result while you lay on it and after!! My friend from church recommended this to me because of my horrible back pains and back diagnoses. I had no clue what I was in for. I did almost want to give up when first laying on it because it does really hurt at first, but then my minute 2-4, it just kinda becomes warm and relaxing. Last time my back went out, it was for 3 months. I was basically bed-ridden. I wish I had had this mat back then. However, since then, I have had those moments where I felt like it was going to go out, I put on a full body meditation channel on youtube, relax myself, lay on the mat for all of 10 minutes (you can go longer), and I am back to feeling better and pain free. It is my understanding you will gain even greater health benefits if you can make this part of your daily routine, but I can vouch how incredible it is even if you just do it when needed because of an onset of pain. Please, do yourself a favor and get this. Research though, there are different levels and numbers of spikes. I bought a different kind but it was too spikey for me, so I have learned I need the less spikey one from KenRelief to actually get the relief. The pillows are too much for my neck, but they work great on my thighs and calves. . Love love love this... it has saved me on multiple occasions!!!!
Are you looking for a pain relief product that won’t break the bank? Get this mat. Do you get good pain relief from acupuncture or acupressure but don’t feel like shelling out the $150+ per session for short lived pain relief? Get this mat. Don’t know what to get your friend or family member who has chronic pain? Get them this mat. Don’t have pain but want to find something to help your muscles relax after a workout? Get this mat. Do you have anxiety or PTSD? Get this mat.
I have severe chronic pain in my entire body due to a degenerative bone disease and nothing will ever fix my body and eliminate all my pain. I've had 22+ years of surgeries, medications, injections, and various other procedures/therapies that prove that. However, I do get good short term relief from acupuncture which I have to pay $150 for each session. I thought I might as well try one of these mats because they have good reviews so, at best, I could stop paying out the ass for acupuncture or, at worst, get a supplemental therapy to add to my regimen. Thankfully, the best case scenario won out and, in addition to helping with my chronic pain, it also helps me to calm down and get my anxiety/emotions in check.
Tips for usage:
You DO need to work yourself up to being on the mat for longer periods of time and then without a shirt on because it can be incredibly intense when you first start using it. If it’s hard on your body to get on and off the floor, put the mat and pillows on your bed or couch. If you do that, I recommend putting your knees/feet on several pillows to deepen the intensity of the pressure and prevent your hips from hurting from being stretched out too long.
On the rare occasion that it’s just my neck that hurts, I’ll use the pillow when I'm sitting or laying down on the couch. Or if I need lumbar support and pain relief, I’ll stick the pillow on my lower back while either sitting upright or laying down. Now I see they even have options to get multiple pillows at the same time. These products are very versatile in how you can use them and what you can use them for. And as long as you go into it with the knowledge that it’s not going to fix your problems but rather be a good tool in your chronic pain toolkit, it’s an easy choice to make and I thus give it a 10/10.
For a couple days due to my herniated bulging disc (in my L4,L5 and S1) it took me almost an hour just to stand up in the morning. Standing up straight after that and taking a step was even more excruciating. I was worried I was going to have to get my nerve burning done again.
But it was around the holiday season and I knew I wouldn't be able to get in anytime soon. So being able to not function I decided to look for remedies on here. I ran across this magical acupressure set... And seeing so many people with the same problems I was having I was at a point I didn't care I figured it can't hurt to try! Especially because I could barely sleep because I couldn't get comfortable, walking and moving was excruciating. I was in so much pain I was just crying I couldn't take it anymore.
When the pads showed up I couldn't wait to try it!
I will say I was in quite a shock trying it out the first time... The pain was tolerable but it was definitely there for the first minute but I toughened through it because I figured it's better than dealing with pain all day long! After breathing and relaxing and not moving so that my body was settled. I started getting this really warm feeling all over my back. Felt amazing! It was uncomfortable to lay on but not unbearable. About 10 minutes in I honestly started to doze off! I hadn't been able to rest in days and somehow this created such a release that I fell asleep for the next 30 minutes feeling no pain(I made sure to set a timer for 45 minutes prior to laying down on the match so I didn't go over the suggested time).
Getting off the first time without putting more pressure on one area was not very easy but the more I used it the easier it got and I figured out a method. I found that laying down where my back is pretty much on the mat at the same time instead of focused on one area I do a crab walk on my elbows till I'm above the mat and then slowly lower my body.
The next morning though I couldn't believe it it took me maybe a minute to get out of bed it was like I was a brand new person! I really honestly did not think it was going to do that much to turn it around because nothing in the past has ever helped!
I'm so glad for all the great reviews people left and I will say that I recommend this mat to anyone and everyone I can because it is a total game changer I use it everyday and have not had pain since that day!
I used it on the floor and for the pillow I usually put that underneath my calves which feels wonderful! And I will definitely say that you're not going to get the full effects unless you lay on the mat bare-skinned.
If you have back pain or knots.. or just need a good way to de-stress...this is it!!! Seriously magic!!!!!!!
I have two herniated disks and thought I'd give this a try. I've only used it once, the day it arrived, but holy crap!!! I've never felt such an intense, noticeable reaction from something so seemingly insignificant. It was incredible... I read the reviews and knew to expect some "discomfort" in the beginning, and it definitely felt like a stabbing feeling. I went all in, shirtless on my back. Within a few minutes of breathing and settling, my back got really warm as my blood flowed to my back. I knew it was doing the job. I kept breathing and relaxing into it. It was really neat how my mind also cleared and calmed—I assume because it took me quickly and completely into my body. After about 5 minutes, I was so relaxed that I slurred my words, and the light with my eyes closed seemed too bright. I am not someone who falls asleep very fast, but I was dozing off in about 10–15 minutes. It was mind-blowing how relaxing it was in such a short amount of time! I was blown away!! It literally felt like an injection from the hospital to me, lol.
I am so excited to see how this affects my quality of life over time. I have chronic pain and often lie awake and toss throughout the night because of it. Exhausting.
I had my partner and son, who is ADHD/autistic/sensory and never stops going, try it as well. My partner fell asleep within 5 minutes, and my son was frozen within minutes. He mentioned the light in the room was too bright as well.
This mat, with practice, seems like one of those things that's such a simple, beautiful, natural assistant that everyone should use! <3
Can't wait to see long-term effects. It just feels right!
My husband and I both have back issues. I got this for us in December of 2023. We have used it here and there but honestly not too much. Recently I have hurt my back lifting a light box. I have disk degeneration disease, hemorrhaging disks, arthritis in my back and stenosis. I learned that in 2013 so I have no clue what's new now. Like I said though I recently hurt it and it seems like the worst pain than I have ever remembered having when similar things happen. I can barely walk/sit or even lay without the excruciating pain. Worse than labor pain with either of my kids. I have medications that hardly even take the edge off right now and they are strong meds which I really hate to take and only do so if needed.
My husband reminded me about the mat which really didnt cross my mind and honestly I would try anything right now even if it included more pain was exactly what I told him. I layed on it for 20-30 mins last night and I wasnt very hopeful. I do lay on it bare since the times we have used it that seems to give the best effect. To my surprise though after getting off I could actually move!!!! It didnt last long but It was way more than I expected. So I've used it on and off today and the pain seems less and less when it comes back. Once it starts to get intolerable again I go sit or lay on it again. Today is also without any pain med. I got up this morning and started trying to move around, I could barely get off my bed. Tons of pain trying to move around after I did.
So I grabbed this mat and layed on it for about 15 minutes in which I actually almost fell back asleep. Once I got up and started moving around I would say it took the pain down over 75%!!!!! It has helped soooooo much through this!! It's AMAZING!!! I would highly recommend this to anyone with any back pain. I really can't believe how well this works and how much it has helped me!! I can definitely say this will be the first thing I will think of in the future with anything back pain related. Thank you SO much for such an awesome product!!! It is painful to get on..and painful for the first few minutes until the warmth kicks in. After that it's not painful at all. Highly satisfied with this purchase!!!
I work 10 hour shifts in a warehouse loading trucks. I'm a 42 year old female. The wear and tear on my body got to the point where even on my days off I could barely bend down to get into my kitchen cabinets. I was starting to move like an old lady and that is unacceptable to me. I saw this product advertised on FB and decided to give it a try. Yes, this pad hurts when you first start using it. When I first got it I tried it while using a t-shirt AND a hoodie. I felt nothing so I removed the hoodie. I still could barely feel anything so I took the t-shirt off. Oh yeah. There's the pain everyone was talking about. As other reviewers have stated, you only have to deal with the pain for about five minutes before you feel a warm flush go through your back. After that it feels good. I've almost fallen asleep on this thing. Getting up from this mat is also painful. I use mine on the bed, but as I peel myself up I can feel the spikes coming out of my back (the spikes don't actually penetrate the skin). After that my skin is too sensitive to put on clothes so I'll lay on my side for a few minutes before getting dressed for the day. The picture shows the marks left on my back after using this mat. When I first started using it I did it for 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at night. I don't know exactly how many weeks it took, I just know that one day I realized I was moving like my old self again. Now I use it for maintenance. If I've had an especially demanding day on the job, I'll come home, shower, wait for my lotion to absorb, and then get on this mat. I will also use it in the morning if I wake up stiff.Recently I've also started standing on it to help with my ankle swelling and pain in my feet from wearing steel toed shoes all day at work. I am eternally grateful I found a natural product to help with my pain so I can continue doing a job I love.
